Checklist:

Things to Cancel

    • Car Insurance – give end date. 
    • Car Tax – make sure you get a rebate on unused tax you have already paid for. 
    • Roadside cover – give end date. 
    • Home Insurance – give completion/move out date. 
    • Life Insurance – give end date. 
    • Council Tax – need to give completion/move out date.  May need to provide with a ‘care of address’ so they can send the final bill. 
    • Gas and Electricity – give final meter reading on completion/move out date.  May need to provide with a ‘care of address’ so they can send the final bill. 
    • Water – May need to provide with a ‘care of address’ so they can send the final bill after they do the final meter read. 
    • TV License – give end date. 
    • Mortgage – on completion. 
    • Rent – Discuss with Landlord/letting agent. 
    • Phone contracts – give end date. 
    • Sky – give end date. 
    • Child benefit claims.
    • Streaming subscriptions – cancel when you need to. 
    • Redirect your post/mail for 6 months (if necessary).
    • Make sure you cancel your direct debits yourself after you have made your final payments. Do not rely on the companies.
    • Will you be using a credit card for a while until you get you new bank cards and account sorted in Australia? If so, change direct debits for things you may not want to cancel like Netflix and Apple music to the credit card.
