Lake Burley Griffin is a great day out. You can walk, ride or hire a boat for they day. There are plenty of picnic locations along the way.

Hire a Kayak or Stand up paddle board (SUP) and have a great day on the lake. If you want more of a challenge for the Kayak head to Snowy River.
