Have the following documents in paper and electronic form.

• Passports 
• Visas  
• Plane tickets 
• Birth Certificates 

• Marriage Certificate 
• Immunisation records (get from the Dr’s) 
• Health records (get from the Dr’s) 
• Bank account details if you have arranged this before travelling.  You should have some information you can carry until you get to go pick up your cards and open the accounts properly. 

It’s a good idea to create a list of valuable information like flight times, stopover times, gate numbers (if you can), your destination address. You will get very tired and just having the key information to hand can help you lots.
